We provide two options for hosted websites on our new students.guild.bham.ac.uk hosting site.
WordPress hosted site
The first option for hosting your site with us is a custom made WordPress site such as this one!
We understand that some societies will not have the required expertise to develop content rich websites that will appeal to their members and potential members. As a result we are now providing a hosted WordPress service that enables all societies the chance to have a hosted website for free that is also easy to manage and does not require a dedicated developer.
The WordPress platform offers many advantages over a standard site for ease of administration because everything is built in when you start! You will be able to choose your own design and functionality from a choice of thousands of themes and widgets.

Virtual hosting and webspace
The second option for hosting your website is on our webspace. We run the latest versions of PHP and mySQL that are accessible via PHPMyAdmin so you can manage your own database from anywhere. Off site FTP is also available for all those requesting a new site. This means if your hosting contract is coming to an end we now offer the same facilities as any major hosting company but for free!
We can also provide virtual hosting if you own your own URL.
