On Thursday 4th October – Dr Robin Catchpole, from the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge, will be directing his talk on the universal distance scale ladder at the first of this academic years AstroSoc Tea, Talk and Telescopes (TTT).

Abstract:- “From parallax to redshift, astronomers have constructed a distance ladder, which provides the third dimension to our view of the universe and without which it would be impossible to compare theory with observation. In this lecture we will climb the ladder and on the way to discover what is contained within ouruniverse, including stars, galaxies, black holes, dark matter and vacuum energy.”

For any further information you can visit the TTT dedicated website.

Tea and coffee will be served form 7:00pm in the Physics Poynting Coffee Lounge (R13 on the Campus map), with the talk starting at 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.
