As has long been a tradition, last semester AstroSoc held its annual dinner. Guests, a mixture of AstroSoc members (both undergrad and postgrad) and members of Physics staff, all snappily dressed, gathered at the university staff
house for an exquisite dinner followed by an entertaining and interesting after dinner talk. As usual for the annual dinner, the food was superb – with the highlight being the Eton Mess Cheesecake.

Our speaker was Dr Andreas Freise of the gravitational research group in the physics department, who is a massive Sci-Fi fan. His talk brought together his two great interests in a discussion of how Sci-Fi has featured gravitational
waves over the years, along with his favourite Sci-Fi memories.
